Coastal Protection of Luanda Island
In view of the waves’ erosive action protection of the island of Luanda, Consulmar was awarded CONSULMAR in 1982, the Detailed Design and Site Supervision of the coastal protection works. The Works, covering a length of 10km, included the construction of a field of groynes, with 31 units, from 120m to 350m long and spaced by 200 to 800m, involving about 200,000 m³ of rock and 32,000 m³ of concrete, and beach nourishment with 1.65 million cubic meters of dredged sand from inside the bay.
