Contingency Plan for the Port of Leixões
The Contingency Plan for the Port of Leixões, in Oporto, defines a set of procedures to be undertaken by the port authority in the event of accidents, including spills at the sea, having been developed for this purpose, a mathematical hydrodynamic model of the harbour and adjacent coastal areas.
The process is supported by Geographic Information System (GIS) and modelling of leaks, explosions, fires and gas leaks. Specific software to ensure proper compliance with all procedures and safety protocols has also been developed.
