PORTINHO DA ARRÁBIDA – CREIRO BEACH ACCESS BENEFITS FROM BANK REVETMENT

(Sep. 2020) In February 2018, severe sea weather conditions caused the partial destruction of the access that connects Portinho da Arrábida to Creiro beach, in Setúbal.

Apart from having been made access to two houses and a restaurant impossible, also compromised emergency access that connects Portinho with Creiro. After the storm, remediation works were carried out but which do not guarantee protection in the face of new onrush from the sea.

Given this scenario, the Setúbal City Council decided to promote the Detail Design of the Portinho-Creiro Marginal Way Revetment. The project was awarded to CONSULMAR in the context of a tender carried out by the municipality.

The bank revetment will develop over about 470 m and will be composed of rockfill sized according to the demands to which the site is exposed.

It is intended, therefore, a technical solution that guarantees the stability of the marginal way, the protection of the buildings, the use of the path as an escape route and also as a pedestrian connection axis for beach users.
