(Jan.2020) The National Port Agency, in Morocco, awarded CONSULMAR the studies and project in order to redesign the main protection structures for the port of Sable d’Or, located south of the city of Rabat.

It is a small recreational harbour, built-in 1986, but which has always had problems with the impact of rough waves in its port basin, making it impossible to berthing recreational vessels permanently.

The port is currently used by small artisanal fishing boats to access the sea. In order to guarantee adequate protection against sea waves, especially in a stormy period, CONSULMAR designed new protection structures, which take root in the current breakwaters, creating a wider and safer sheltered area for navigation.

The project also contemplates the deepening of the port basin at the level (-2 m) ZH, the definition of the access channel to the level (-3 m) ZH and the dismantling of some pitfalls.

This solution was tested in a numerical sea waves simulation and tested in a reduced physical model, with good results.
