(Oct.2019) The coastline of the city of Porto Amboim, in Angola, recently benefited from an emergency intervention in order to stop the advance of the sea, which, meanwhile, had already caused the destruction of several buildings.

This is an old problem, but it worsened significantly after construction works, with a certain dimension, on the coastline, south of the city.

The situation of an imminent collapse of several buildings along about 2.5 km from the seafront of the city, as well as the national road that serves the city, forced the execution of an emergency works embodied in the construction of a groin field.

With the technical support of CONSULMAR, the intervention was carried out by the contractor consortium Hidroportos / Fujian, which is an extremely short period, less than 4 months, were able to define and build a set of 8 groins.

The results of the intervention were immediate and very satisfactory, witnessing the widening of the beaches created by the groins and, in this way, protecting the structures and equipment previously threatened on the coastline of the city.
