Dredging of Luanda Bay and Beach Nourishment at Luanda Island
The state of siltation of the bay of Luanda has been causing many problems in the marginal zone of the city, including environmental issues. To solve this problem a dredging project for the bay has been developed, taking advantage of the resulting sands to feed the beaches of Luanda Island, which in 1987 had been subject to an initial operation of beach nourishment, and which maintenance through refills had then been foreseen. The volume of dredging involved was of the order of 800,000 m³, having CONSULMAR prepared the project, and undertaken the monitoring and supervision of the Works.
